Improving the experience of each tourist, personalizing it, is the goal of the new app that the Lisbon Tourism Association (ATL) is preparing to launch, which will make the city a world pioneer in this type of solution. But the greatest innovation is undoubtedly the city’s tourism management platform, in which all ATL members will be able to participate and thus obtain advantages, says David Bernardo, managing partner of LITS ebusiness, which, in collaboration with the Association, is developing this project.
How do you define ATL’s new app? It is not defined as an app. It is much more than that. The app and the website are just the faces for the tourist. There are many apps (not so many good ones), the app is critical for the tourist, but it is only the tip of the iceberg. Making an app and website would be great if it was 2010. Nowadays it is no longer enough. Turismo de Lisboa is the institution par excellence that has the associates, the experience and the content. Nobody better to make an app for tourists. But the great innovation is mainly the platform we are creating behind it. It’s an entire tourism management platform for the city, in which in the future all associates will be able to participate and have real advantages in terms of revenue, quality of service and efficiency of their operations. Naturally it is not possible to implement everything from one moment to the next. It’s a project that will grow a lot in the next few years. We are confident that by being the world leader in these solutions we will be able to continue the great qualitative growth of tourism in Lisbon.
